Superbad Quotes and Review

How do you describe a film like Superbad? It's quite tough, to say the least. Personally, it was a bittersweet and surreal experience for me. It brought back a lot of memories that made me cringe and laugh at the same time. The film really understands the awkwardness that is the high school experience. Remember the girl you had a crush on? Remember the teacher you hated? Remember your best friend? Remember your confusion? Superbad remembers it all very well. It's a complex time, isn't it? I only wish that Superbad came out in 2004 when I was finishing up high school. It would have helped me out greatly. Sadly, I never got the girl. I also never went to any cool parties, which I don't regret. Parties were never my cup of tea. That said, if Superbad has taught us anything, we need to grab life by the balls and go for it. We should act now and ask questions later. Our time as a teenager is short and over before we know it. We might as well be Superbad! Hell, if McLovin can get some poonanni, why can't the rest of us? I think I need to get a fake ID, even though I'm 22-years-old. Think the ladies would enjoy McCritic? Probably not.

In the movie we meet Fogell, played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse. He's very dorky but doesn't know it. In his mind, he's the coolest kid on the block. When Seth and Evan won't talk to you, you know you're in trouble. Ignorance is bliss, isn't it? Seth can't stand Fogell and wants nothing to do with him. He's also upset with Fogell because he's going to the same college as Evan. It goes without saying that Seth is not exactly college material. He's like Matthew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused. He'll be in high school forever. To quote Matthew in Dazed and Confused: "That's what I love about these high school girls, man. I get older, they stay the same age." Speaking of Seth, he mentions to Jules that he's got a fake ID, which is actually Fogell's. Jules asks Seth if he'll bring some booze to her party. Thank god for Fogell, eh? The only problem is that Fogell's ID says "McLovin." Yup, 25-year-old McLovin. Their goal is to get some booze and bring it to the party and get laid. Sounds fairly simple, right? Oh, did I mention that Fogell wants to get laid, too? Yup, he has a major crush on Nicola, played by Aviva. You can't leave out Fogell! He's part of the group, by god!

Plus, there are many extras on the bonus DVD, including: The Music Of Superbad: (13 min.) Superbad has a great soundtrack and there is a reason. Funk legends Bootsy Collins, Bernie Worrell and Catfish Collins sat down in the studio and funked out to make this memorable score. This is great footage of the living legends at work recording the music.
